Is it really private?
Yes. When you run a model in Lockedmind, it runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your messages are never sent to a server — not ours, not anyone's — and your chats are saved only in your browser.
Is it really free?
Yes. Lockedmind costs nothing and needs no account, and every model here is free to download. A few models' licences only allow personal use; those are clearly marked.
Where do the downloads come from?
Straight from where each model's makers publish it — Hugging Face, Ollama or LM Studio. Nothing passes through us, and we never see what you download.
What do I do with a downloaded file?
Model files end in .gguf. Open them with a free app: LM Studio or Jan (just open the file), or Ollama. Or skip the file: every model shows the one-step way to get it in those apps.

Which model should I pick?
Start with Qwen3 4B if your computer has 8 GB of memory or more, or Llama 3.2 1B on an older one. For programming, try Qwen2.5 Coder 7B. To run on your computer with Ollama, Gemma 4 E4B is a great all-rounder that also reads photos.
Can I use these models for my business?
Most, yes. Every model shows its licence in plain words, and says whether it’s free to use for business or for personal use only.
What does “Community” mean?
A model shared by someone other than the lab that made the original — often a tuned or improved version. Many are excellent; switch on Original makers only to hide them.
